Medieval Cannon
Medieval wheeled cannon by papo, complete with cannon balls to fire. Ages 3+. approx 20cm long X 17cm high. Not to be aimed and people. Cannon in the Middle Ages were large tubular firearms designed to fire a heavy projectile over a long distance. Some Scottish kings were very interested in the development of cannon, including the unfortunate James II, who was killed by the accidental explosion of one of his own cannon besieging Roxburgh Castle in 1460. Mons Meg, which dates from about the same time, is perhaps the most famous example of a Scottish cannon and can be seen at Edinburgh Castle.
