Anderson's Balloons
Hans Christian Anderson's Balloon mobile Coloured cardboard 38 x 38cm. Andersen is well-known throughout the world for his fairy tales, but little is known of his passion for cutting out silhouettes, a pastime he indulged in his whole life. Among his possessions found after his death in 1875 were about 1500 silhouette cuttings, among which was a balloon silhouette motif chosen by Flensted for this Mobile.
He made a little story about hot air balloons in 1853, inspired by the Frenchman Henri Giffard who flew 25 km from the hippodrome in Paris to Trappes. Design: Christian Flensted. Size: 38 x 38 cm. Material: Cardboard.
